Me at the Four Seasons Maui!

So many people have been asking me lately, how I saved up so much money to travel the world. So I’ve made a Vlog and Blog post about it because I loved sharing the information so much.

Well, just a bit of background information to start us off: I was working as a nanny, for the last 5-6 years, making decent money, but I thought it was time I needed to phase out and start finding what I really wanted to do with my life. I decided to start my own Marketing Agency, and get some passive income going. This actually added on to my expenses to grow the business and so did the other business I had. This was back in September 2017.

When I started on my journey as an entrepreneur, I needed to evaluate my goals and my why. (Which I recommend ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE do wherever you are in life, and if you want some exercises to help you with this, check out my post on Knowing Your Why) This helped me to figure out what I wanted to focus my energy and time on. I decided, my main goal to work towards was to get as much passive income going as I possibly could to be able to travel full time. I found myself incredibly passionate about passive income and inspiring people to reach my goal. I designated inspiring people to be a part of my purpose in life. I set my travel trip for May of 2018, and bought my ticket to lock me in. This way I had no other choice but to make that money, or I wouldn’t be able to get around. This has lead me to my journey of saving $20,000 to travel the world.

So when I first started, I read so many books about financial freedom. Some of my favorites being Robert Kiyosaki’s books Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cashflow Quadrant, and Business of the 21st Century. I took them all very seriously and used them as an action guide. I specifically followed his process of building wealth:

  1. Build a Business

  2. Reinvest in that business

  3. Buy assets with the profit

  4. Let those assets buy luxuries

I started to get around people that were already doing this and had results. I pushed hard to get mentors and find friends who had similar goals as me, and trust me, when I found these people, my life did a 180. These people trained me to build a full business, on the side while I was growing my marketing agency. I thought I had the capacity to build a business, let alone 2 at the same time! I worked my butt off the last 7 months to put systems into my businesses. All the while I was able to start teaching others how to build their own business successfully.

(If you want to see my journey, and the progress, click here to see my latest video.)

I reinvested every single ounce of the profits into my businesses to grow them. For the first 4 months I didn’t take any profit. Luckily, I was able to move home and save some money. I know most people don’t want to do that, and trust me, I really didn’t want to at first because I knew it would open up a storm. I forced myself to suck it up and deal with it till I left on my trip (Not saying my parents are horrid or anything, I love them lots, but I can’t listen to people who don’t support my big dreams.)

When I was able to get some leeway in the amount I was investing, I started to invest in stocks as well. I learned all I could online about trading, and even took The Wealthy Investors’ Trade School (Which was amazing!)

Fast forwarding, a few more months to today April 29th 2018, one month from when I leave on my trip: I checked my phone, and saw that I had saved $19,150 in my travel accounts! This was all through going through Robert Kiyosaki’s Process, Only after I had made money in my stock trading (my assets) was when I finally put it aside for my trip!

It took a lot of trust in myself that I would work hard and make the money in time. The best part is I will be able to continue my businesses while I am traveling, and my stock trading online as well because I spent all that time setting it up!

Thank you for everyone that has pushed me to share this story, and I hope that it has given you all some value or inspired you to reach your financial and travel goals!

I will be posting pictures and videos documenting my trip on my Facebook page and my vlogs on youtube.
